5 Ways to Beat the Aussie' Winter Blues'

In Australia we’re pretty lucky. Known as the ‘sunburnt country’, most of the year we experience nice, warm weather and sunny days (with occasional afternoon thunderstorms)!

But this also means, for many of us, winter sucks. We dream of the days where darkness falls after 6pm, not before. We dream of frolicking in the ocean or going for a surf without wearing an insulated suit.

We’re nearly there, with the first day of Spring coming up in a matter of weeks (many say the ‘first day of Spring' is September 1, others say it’s the equinox mid to late September).

But how do you beat the ‘winter blues’ to get you through that last patch of cold mornings and nights? (And those few days that don't warm up)!

Jumping on your Springfree Trampoline can get your blood pumping, and the great thing is your trampoline is weather-resistant all year round, in all climates.

Here are our top 5 tips to help your inner Aussie thaw out!

1. Have an energy-boosting breakfast

How you start your morning sets the tone for the rest of the day. Select a breakfast that is scientifically proven to boost your mood. Take some time to research some new recipes, or crack an egg before you hit the road. This natural source of energy will work to make the rest of your day easier and more manageable!  And let’s face it, on a particularly cold morning, there’s nothing better than a nice warm bacon and egg burger!

2. Get active with your family

Many of us tend to feel as though there aren't enough hours in the day to spend quality time together. Between work, school and other obligations, we tend to push off physical activity in order to get in as much family time as possible. Why not try mixing the two together, and make your family time active time? Exercise is known to work as a great stress-reliever, leaving you with a burst of energy. By getting out and staying active with your family, you’ll have the luxury of spending time together, while still boosting your health! (Plus, you won’t be complaining about the cold anymore)!

3. Stay social

When the cold rushes in, so do we. Many of us spend the entire winter season worrying about how to avoid going outside that we miss out on the social benefits of humour and laughter. Do your best to be as proactive as possible, and make plans with friends and family. Chances are they’ll probably need some help beating their winter blues too!

4. Try a random act of kindness

A selfless act can work to instantly increase your self-esteem, leaving you with a feel-good vibe all day. Beat your blues by helping to beat someone else’s with a kind and simple gesture. Whether it’s buying the next person in line a coffee, or giving a heartfelt, unexpected compliment to a co-worker, you’ll not only leave someone smiling, but you’ll catch yourself smiling too!

5. Jump on your Springfree Trampoline

Jumping is an activity that’s fun and healthy for the whole family. It works to keep your kids outdoors where they are able to get fresh air and play outside. With a Springfree Trampoline, you and your kids can bounce year round. Jumping on a trampoline gets your blood pumping, and is a great way to encourage creativity and learning. Get out onto the trampoline and have a good bounce. Jumping will work to bring out the child in you, and get your energy and mood up faster than you think!

We hope our tips and tricks will help you beat the winter blues.

That, and the happy realisation that our climate in Australia is much warmer than many other places in the world, and in next to no time we’ll be enjoying the sun, surf and fun that spring and summer will bring!
