Brisbane City Christmas Parade  Free Event

When: 13-22 December 2019
Where: Queen Street Mall from Edward St through to King George Square
Cost: Free

Brimming with music and merriment, this year's Christmas Parade will feature new exciting characters, hundreds of singing and dancing performers and of course the star - Santa Claus to entertain and delight all ages! Taking place nightly, there’s plenty of opportunities to see the glowing floats light up little faces.  If you’re looking for a little extra magic, see the man in red himself inside the Myer Centre, greeting little ones, and seeing who’s been naughty or nice.

Fireworks Spectacular Free Event

When: 20-23 December 2019
Where: South Bank Parklands
Cost: Free

In the lead up to Christmas, South Bank Parklands becomes a celebratory hub, with shimmering fireworks whizzing, dancing and bursting above. Head to the Clem Jones Promenade for the most sought after seats in the house, though other popular viewing locations include Streets Beach and River Quay.

Christmas Wonderland Free Event

When: 13-22 December 2019
Where: Nerima Gardens
Cost: Free

Celebrate the festive season with family and friends at Christmas Wonderland! This magical lighting display is back and on a much grander scale, treating visitors to a wonderland of glittering lights, illuminated trees, animated displays, light tunnels and projections that will mesmerise and delight.

Gold Lotto City Hall Lights Free Event

When: 6-24 December
Where: King George Square
Cost: Free

This is an amazing and beautiful show that will entertain all ages, and is guaranteed to put everyone in the festive spirit. Believe us when we say this show is truly magical and once you have seen it, you will want to go back again and again. This year Brisbane Families can watch an enchanting, brand new story by celebrated Brisbane Children’s Author Samantha Wheeler. Taking place nightly, the playful Aussie Christmas tale comes to life via animation onto City Hall every 15 minutes. With its enchanting narrative and creative flair, this intricate lighting display has fast become a highlight of the festive season.

The Lights of Christmas Free Event

When: 11-24 December
Where: St Stephen’s Cathedral
Cost: Free

Back for its second year, watch the historic St Stephen’s Cathedral glow in a magnificent light show on Elizabeth Street.   The whole family will enjoy this novel show, which celebrates the season of peace, joy and goodwill through animation and projection on the cathedral. Running nightly, be sure to add this mesmerising lighting exhibit to your Christmas in Brisbane itinerary.

The Enchanted Garden Free Event

When: 29 November to 13 December 2019
Where: Roma Street Parkland
Cost: Free

The Enchanted Garden treats visitors to a magnificent evening walk, lit with the warm glow of mesmerising lights. Stroll through a series of shimmering gardens and delicately-lit weeping figs, to the treetops of a twinkling rainforest. Premium food truck eats will be available for re-fueling!

Lord Mayor’s Christmas Carols Free Event

When: 7 December 2019
Where: Riverstage, City Botanic Gardens
Cost: Free

The free Carols event will host a variety of Australia's most renowned singers and entertainers as they ignite the big stage in this joyous and magical celebration of Christmas. The 2019 hosts are Charli Robinson and John Foreman (OAM).

Carols Extravaganza

When: 20-23 December 2019
Where: South Bank Piazza
Cost: Children are free, Adults $5

The South Bank Piazza will be home to the Carols Extravaganza - an exciting Christmas production featuring film, song, dance and a visit from Santa himself! From acrobatic aerialists to serene ballet compositions and show stopping vocals, this show is guaranteed to ignite excitement and nostalgia for the “Most Wonderful Time of the Year”.

Spirit of Christmas

Where: Concert Hall

Celebrate the festive season with traditional yuletide concerts in the grandeur of QPAC’s Concert Hall. Spirit of Christmas will once again feature a stunning line up with a full orchestra, choirs, and two of Australia’s leading musical theatre performers.  These concerts are an occasion to enjoy uplifting songs, be inspired by Christmas’ enduring message of love and peace, and sing-a-long to much-loved Christmas carols.

Finding Santa Free Event

When: 15 November to 31 December 2019
Where: Ipswich and Greater Region
Cost: Free

Santa and his helpers are hiding in Ipswich! Can you find them all?  Catch a glimpse of Rudolph waiting for a bus, watch as Dasher and his mates graze and – if you’ve been good this year – you might even see Santa getting your present ready!  Finding Santa is an interactive augmented reality trail that will be available across 40 locations within the city. Watch your step and look out for the festive pavement stickers as you make your way around Ipswich this Christmas. Using your digital device, you will be able to discover animated Christmas characters, step into the live photo and upload to social media!

Christmas Movies

When: 16-19 December 2019
Where: Eagle Farm Racecourse
Cost: Gold coin donation

Celebrate the Festive Season and watch your favourite Christmas movies on the merriest and biggest screen in the Southern Hemisphere! Take a break from the bustling shops and join them for a relaxing evening under the stars. Get in early to jingle your way through the free activities before the movie starts like face painting, sing-along Christmas Carols and an appearance from Santa!  Dinner and snacks can be pre-purchased as a package from just $10 per person.  There will be bean bags - AUD8 and picnic rugs - AUD12 available for hire on the night (first in, first served) or bring your own cushions, blankets and rugs for a comfy set-up on the lawn!
