While visiting in Sydney, we had to wait ages when I rang and asked for a cab with a child seat.
The really lovely (and extremely chatty) cabbie was telling us that most cab drivers wont carry them as they take up too much room in their boot, and - get this - some have invented their own (!!) child restraints for their cabs!!
Passenger beware!

Seriously, never used a cab because they don't offer restraints. They're worried about kids catching a cold, but what about an erratic cab driver (few and far between, I know......*sarcasm*), why would we risk our kids lives? What happens if there is an accident with an unrestrained child? Responsibility would lie with the parent I would imagine. I'm not a parent who is willing to take that risk. I always fly with my kids car seat (yes, you are allowed to take it onto the plane for them), that way we have our car seat to put into any one else's car for the safety of our kids.
